As we look over the collection of images collated from Natasha and Matt’s day I feel my stomach bubble with an easy joy. The day was every bit playful and quirky and soulful and perfectly suited to them both. A day that was thought for so long by so many of their very closest family and friends to be one hell of a lavish engagement party complete with two awesome photographer chicks that were going to be there all day to capture it all…
Their best friends we’re first told a little more was going on around 9am by way of a card asking “Will you be my best man” “Will you be my bridesmaid” .. and in reply “of course” Tash needed to point out that the card actually said… “Will you be my bridesmaid … today”. The Best man shocked he wasn’t able to throw a bachelor party professed “Do I have time to lose weight?” and “but my suit’s at the dry cleaner”.
And so the day was on its way … and we revealed in delight at the opportunity to use the skeleton at home in the lounge room of their apartment that Tash gave Matt as a Valentine’s Day gift in her details shots and shot our groom out in his parents garden .. barefoot.
It was not long after that we found ourselves amongst a casual quirky engagement party with one of our favourite celebrants Anita Oates introducing herself as Aunty Anita to various people who asked her connection. It was hard not to smile at the regular chatter of “where’s Natasha?” that was overheard many times amongst the guests but after not too much time had passed Aunty Anita made the big announcement that Tash and Matt’s engagement party .. was to be a wedding. The reactions of family and friends was fabulous! Within minutes a gorgeous floral wooden “photo booth” had been transformed to an amazing arbour and the garden had transformed to the most gorgeous eclectic ceremony location.
And what a beautiful ceremony it was – heart felt, filled with great love of two people making public the commitment they’ve had in their hearts for so long. We stole them and their friends away for a little while to a gorgeous reserve nearby for some amazing portraits.. and returned back for an evening of fun casual relaxed “what animal am I” dancing adventures and great conversation amongst a big top of fairy lights.
It really was an amazingly beautiful surprise and we loved every moment of it. Thank you so much for allowing us to be part of such a fantastic day.
Much love
